Gianni Schicchi / American Gothical

Imposters and hijinks abound in Puccini's charming one-act farce Gianni Schicchi (sung in English). After intermission, Robert Lindsey-Nassif's American Gothical takes center stage as a love letter to one of Iowa's most famous paintings.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

Brucemore is a beautiful outdoor venue to enjoy live opera! In order to make the most of your visit, check out these frequently wondered "Know Before You Go" details:

  • Site Opening: The site will open at 6:30 p.m. for parking and seating. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.

  • Parking: The only gate that will open to vehicles for on-site parking is at 2160 Linden Drive SE. Signage will direct you to open spaces near the Visitor Center. We ask that you arrive by 7:25 PM as the gate will close promptly at 7:30 PM (parking is not available on Dows Lane, the dead end road adjacent to Brucemore.).

  • Seating: Lawn space is on a first-come basis. Patrons are responsible for bringing their own chairs or blankets.

  • Food and Beverages: You are welcome to bring your own picnics and beverages (beer and wine allowed) to enjoy in the performance venue. Concessions will not be available for sale at this event.

  • Pets: Pets are not allowed, with the exception of service animals.

  • Weather: The event occurs fully outdoors and may be held in light rain. If the event needs to be delayed or rescheduled due to weather, a decision will be made by 5:00 p.m. and posted on Brucemore’s website and social media. Brucemore will reach out to ticket holders. There will be no refunds, only exchanges to another date as availability allows.

  • Bugspray: You will likely want to bring bugspray to keep the Iowa creepy-crawlies at bay. Please apply bug spray containing Deet while standing on concrete rather than grass.
